Why use a cream with SPF all year round?

Dermatologists have not the slightest doubt that skin protection from the sun’s rays should not be limited only to the use of SPF sunscreens during summer vacations. Sunlight is harmful to the skin and can cause many serious diseases. One of the effects of UV rays is erythema, but it can even lead to the formation of cancerous lesions, namely skin cancer.
And it should also be remembered that the sun shines all year round, and although the high temperature is not felt in the colder months, the radiation still affects human skin.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM UV RADIATION YEAR-ROUND?

Applying sunscreen is important for maintaining healthy and youthful looking skin, regardless of the weather or season.
Regular application of SPF sunscreen should become a regular part of daily skin care.

HOW DOES UV RADIATION AFFECT THE SKIN?

UV rays are divided into UVA and UVB, each of which has different effects on the skin.
UVA rays are mainly responsible for photoaging, that is, the formation of wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity and the appearance of age spots.
Because of their ability to penetrate clouds, glass and clothing, the skin is exposed to them almost constantly.

UVB rays, although their intensity varies throughout the day, are a major cause of sunburn and increase the risk of developing skin cancer.
Fortunately, unlike UVA rays, they do not penetrate clouds, glass or clothing.

SOLAR RADIATION VS. SEASONS

In autumn and spring, when the days are longer and the sun often breaks through the clouds, our skin is exposed to UVA and UVB rays for most of the day.
In winter, despite the seemingly weaker sun, UV radiation can also be harmful, as snow and ice reflect up to 80% of the rays, increasing the risk of skin damage.
That’s why protection from UVA and UVB rays is essential, and regardless of the season.
Regular application of SPF sunscreen is the easiest and most effective way to provide such protection.

WHAT COSMETICS TO USE IN DAILY SKIN CARE?

The entire body should be protected from UV radiation, especially the face and hands, which are most often exposed and show signs of aging the fastest.
Therefore, it is worth permanently incorporating a face cream with SPF and a hand cream with SPF into your daily skin care routine to protect these sensitive parts of the body.
During the summer and while in warm countries, it is also particularly important to use a lotion or cream with SPF to protect the entire body from the sun’s harmful rays.

CAN SPF FACE CREAMS BE USED UNDER MAKEUP?

Sunscreens can and should be applied under makeup.
Many bases and foundations already contain SPF filters, but it is also recommended to use a separate sunscreen for extra protection.
Before leaving the house, it’s a good idea to apply typical skin care products first, and after they are absorbed, apply the sunscreen.
Once the cream is absorbed, you can proceed with makeup application.
This way of applying cosmetics provides effective sun protection and allows you to maintain a beautiful appearance throughout the day.

HOW OFTEN TO APPLY SPF CREAMS?

The vast majority of people do not have the ability to continuously apply SPF cream during the day.
Therefore, it is recommended to apply this type of product at least once a day throughout the year and regardless of the weather or season.
However, during the vacations, when a person’s body sweats harder or bathing in the sea or lake is more frequent, you should increase the frequency of face and hand sunscreen application.

To ensure effective protection, products should be applied every two to three hours.
This is especially important if the skin is exposed to the sun for an extended period of time.
If swimming, the cream should be applied to the skin after each time you get out of the water.
