Damaged hydrolipid barrier.
Skin regeneration step by step!

Your skin is often irritated, unpleasantly dry, red and tight?
This is how damage to the skin’s hydrolipidic barrier manifests itself!
What exactly is it, what causes its violation and how to rebuild it with simple means?
Read on and we will explain everything to you step by step!

WHAT IS THE HYDROLIPID BARRIER?

Our skin consists of many layers, each with a different structure and function.
One of them, extremely important, is the epidermis, which is a protective layer against external factors, and it is on this layer that the hero of today’s article – the hydrolipid barrier – is located.
The hydrolipid barrier plays an important role in the functioning of our skin.
It is made up of water and lipids, and among its most important tasks is to protect against transepidermal water loss, as well as to prevent the negative effects of the external environment and unfavorable microorganisms.
A properly functioning lipid mantle is the best protection against internal moisture loss and water evaporation, and its disruption can cause many negative effects on our skin.
What can cause a violation of this delicate structure?

WHAT CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE HYDROLIPID BARRIER AND WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

There are many factors that can cause irritation and, as a result, damage to the skin’s natural hydrolipid barrier. Most often, however, its weakening is caused by unfavorable external factors and, above all – inadequate care. Other causes may include:

  • Using too many cosmetics that contain strong active ingredients.
  • Dermatological treatment.
  • Rubbing the face with a rough towel.
  • Washing the face with products with inappropriate pH.
  • Overexposure to the sun.
  • The use of strong mechanical scrubs.

A damaged hydrolipid barrier is impossible to ignore, as it is visible to the naked eye and accompanied by unpleasant symptoms, among others:

  • Dryness and roughness of the skin.
  • Sebum overproduction.
  • Flaking of the epidermis.
  • Loss of healthy color.
  • Perceived discomfort and increased skin hyper-reactivity.
  • Unpleasant pulling sensation, especially after cleansing the skin.
  • Increased susceptibility to irritation and allergies.

The reconstruction of the hydrolipid barrier is a long and arduous process, but extremely important for the proper functioning of our skin.
How to help the skin rebuild it?

HOW TO REBUILD THE HYDROLIPID BARRIER?

To rebuild the disrupted hydrolipid barrier, conscious care will help you make your skin function properly again.
Let’s start at the beginning:

  1. Give up all cosmetics that can potentially irritate your skin, including acids and mechanical scrubs with particles.
Say goodbye to rough towels, too!
In this case, less is better.
  2. For cleansing and makeup removal, choose mild cleansing cosmetics, such as our iconic Active Foaming Cleanser for face and eyes, which does not disturb the skin’s protective barrier.
Once a week, you can additionally reach for our gentle peeling gel with vitamin C!
  3. Go for minimalism and choose only proven face creams with occlusive properties.
We wholeheartedly recommend you to try Sunewmed+ light day and night cream, which contains moisturizing macadamia, jojoba, avocado oils and many other precious extracts and ingredients.
  4. Protect your skin from the sun’s rays all year round!
    Sunscreen is your must have.
Have it with you at all times!
  5. Use moisturizing sheet masks as a supplement to your daily skin care routine.
For this task the following will work well Essence+ masks with snail mucus and peptides, which activate skin cells for renewal and intensive regeneration.

The key in rebuilding the barrier is not only the right cosmetics, but also patience and regularity.
These are two key points!
During the whole process, it is also necessary to look at your diet.
Be sure to stay hydrated – drink at least 2 liters of water a day, and include in your menu products rich in omega 3-6-9 unsaturated fatty acids.
